Beau James is from the Mununjali clan of the Yugambeh Nation from South East Queensland with links to Stradbroke Island. They currently hold the position of Manager of Indigenous Programs at the Australian National Maritime Museum, curating innovative exhibitions that have been shown both nationally and internationally. They source exciting new works that intertwine the traditional with the contemporary to further highlight and explore Indigenous culture and connection to Saltwater, Freshwater country.
Beau has over 25 years experience working as a Circus Artist, Physical Comedienne and Cabaret Performer. Beau has worked for a variety of Australian companies as well as writing, directing and producing their own collection of works. Through their art practice of clowning, physical performance and comedy they strive to highlight life within the LBGTQI community focusing on issues such as gender, race, culture and sexuality, always with a big serving of humour.
